GPP…….AGAIN

January 20th, 2010

To build upon a past post by Jennifer Calderone on the subject of GPP. I wanted to share a short video clip of one of my young athletes. The “G-man” demos one round of gpp for the camera, but we typically perform 2 or 3 rounds (4 to 6 minutes block) as a warm-up.

You Will Be Better Tomorrow

November 24th, 2009

You will be better tomorrow at what you do today. I often think of this line, Renegade founder, John Davies said at one of the conferences I attended this year. While this holds true in most areas of life, I think this phase serves as a source of motivation when applied toward exercise. As many individuals have experienced, exercise is challenging especially in the beginning phases. Yet the body is amazing and can quickly learn to master movements. I have a client who could barely touch his toes during our first Yoga session, yet in only a couple months time, he is now able to put his palms on the floor. Another of my clients, with minimal strength several months ago, can now snatch the Olympic bar over head. I marvel at the body’s ability to adapt and the improvements gained through perseverance.

When you find yourself struggling through a workout or unable to master new exercises remember, “You will be better tomorrow at what you do today.”

The Magic Pills

November 12th, 2009

If there were a magic pill that would guarantee health and wellness would you take it? Of course most individuals would jump at the chance and even pay a good deal of money for it. Why is it then that so many neglect regular exercise and proper nutrition when these are essentially “magic pills?” It is extremely sad that people realize the benefits of exercise yet still fail to workout. Research has proven time and time again the prescription for a long, healthy and active life is a combination of exercise and nutritious foods.

One of my current clients is a doctor who deals with the elderly population and witnesses daily the appalling consequences of a lifetime devoid of exercise. He noted, after making his own commitment to health, we are all headed for old age but there are different paths by which to get there. We both agreed, the only option to take is the path that includes exercise. The individuals who do not choose this option, very likely, will be confined to bed and riddled with disease later in life. Spending my days confined to a bed is worse than being boxed up 10 feet under the earth. Remember you choose your destiny now, let it be one where you can fight hard physically and mentality until the sweet end. Contact a certified Renegade trainer in your area today.
